Reach Out And Touch Someone

It is nearing Valentines Day, and it is time to get in the mood. We have a dare for everyone. No you will not have to wrestle with anyone in your underwear. In the next couple of days find a random older person. ( Not you grandmother or someone you know, and when we say older this does not mean someone in their 40's or 50's . ) You do not have to engage in conversation, however it may be helpful. The goal is to give/get a high-five. We are interested as how this is going to go for us in Mexico, and we want to know the highlights of your high-five experiences... let the "games" begin.

Kim and I are cracking up... and we're in. Kim thinks she knows who's going to give her the 5. (I don't see it happening though.)

Oh, it's on! People already look at me strangely around here. I couldn't possibly jeopardize that any more.

You guys are cracked and I just adore that about you! Thanks for the challenge and the challenging lives you lead.

I LOVE YOU!

Well, so far I've chickened out of the high-five thing! BUT I helped out lots of old people at the grocery store today. It's really sad to see so many people rushing by and not making eye contact when some of these little ol' folks are needing help & not wanting to ask.

So THANK YOU for helping me make eye contact and actually engage in the lives of people that I could've just walked on by...

I hope I'll always make time for old people in grocery stores!

I am just going to say, my high five experience had me laughing for most of the evening. I will post on it tomorrow. Kim, I am excited for you. If you need to, take Clark with you and hold him. Nobody can get angry at you when you are holding a cute kid, and you just pretend it was Clark's idea.
I am taking Abby to school early tomorrow, so her teacher can show me how I am suppose to make a crepe paper skirt for her.

Ok... let me set the stage for our "victim" of the high five. There is an old man that lives around the corner from us and every time we walk to the corner store or drive out of our driveway to go somewhere... he is there. When we first got here, to Mexico, I would wave and say, "Buenos Dias" and would never ever get a response or even eye contact. In fact ... he looks like he originated the "evil eye" Anyway, for the first few months I was faithful to my cause to just get a wave or smile or something... but yet came up empty handed everytime. I even asked his son if he doesn't like Americans and his son said that he is just hard of hearing... and of course, I believed him UNTIL one day I was walking cooper around the block and the old man started smiling and talking and cooper waved at him and he waved back straight away. Anyway, now you have a small insight and background to the story of Amy and her "high-five".
